Rose at 5. At 6 with D. \u039f\u1f30\u03ba\u03bf\u03bd\u1f79\u03bc\u03bf\u03c2, \u2015 hottish walk, but slow, to \u039a\u03c5\u03bd\u03bf\u03c0\u03b9\u1f71\u03c3\u03c4\u03c1\u03b5\u03c2, \u2015 where I was introduced to Sig. Villetta: \u2015 it is curious to remember how I used to draw outside<\/em> the house years ago! \u2015 After sketching an outline of the pearl-blue mountains, I left \u2015 tea \u2015 [trout] & eggs \u2015 was ready: & very pleasant, in the garden \u2015 below the pergola. Then I wandered about seeking places I might draw in \u2015 certainly \u039a\u03c5\u03bd\u03bf\u03c0\u03b9\u1f71\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03c2 is a lovely place. Then I called on a Mr. & Mrs. \u039c\u1f73\u03be\u03b1, living in one of the Viletta Villas, & then at 12, with Villetta, & \u039c\u03b5\u03be\u03b1, (\u03bf\u1f30\u03ba\u03bf\u03bd\u1f79\u03bc\u03bf\u03c2 went to sleep \u2015) we went in search of some pine trees \u2015 those wh. of old F.L. & I used to walk to \u2015 but we only discovered them after a long & hot & merry walk \u2015 returning by 3 to \u039a\u03c5\u03bd\u03bf\u03c0\u03b9\u1f71\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03c2[.]<\/p>\n

\u039c\u1f73\u03be\u03b1 conversed sensibly about the \u201cProtection[:]\u201d he likes the English, but cannot understand their policy \u2015 of wh. perhaps they have nil. At 4 we dined \u2015 all 4 of us \u2015 & very well. \u039f\u1f30\u03ba\u03bf\u03bd\u1f79\u03bc\u03bf\u03c2 came out strongly with the \u03ba\u03c1\u03b1\u03c3\u1fd61<\/a><\/sup> \u2015 as a \u0396\u03bf\u03c1\u03bf\u1f71\u03c3\u03c4rian or what not. Once in a way [sic<\/em>] this sort of thing is pleasant: & anyhow Villetta\u2019s hospitality & kindness is extreme.<\/p>\n

At 6.40 \u2015 we \u2015 \u039f\u1f30\u03ba\u03bf\u03bd\u03bf\u03bc\u03bf\u03c2 & I slowly walked home, \u2015 that very queer bird talking always \u2015 & \u03c4\u1f79\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd! & \u03c0\u1f79\u03c3\u03bf\u03c5\u03bd!2<\/a><\/sup> Speaking of his aristocratic Epiroti mother\u2019s severity \u2015 he said she never entered into his plans \u2015 \u201c\u03ba\u03b1\u1f76 \u03b5\u1f70\u03bd \u03c4\u1f74\u03bd \u03bb\u03ad\u03b3\u03c9 \u1f43\u03c4\u03b9 \u03bc\u1f72 \u03c7\u03c1\u03b5\u03b9\u03ac\u03b6\u03b5\u03c4\u03b1\u03b9 \u03bd\u1f70 \u1f13\u03c7\u03c9 \u03b3\u03c5\u03bd\u03b1\u1fd6\u03ba\u03b13<\/a><\/sup> \u2015\u201d she will not understand me, but rather if anything opposes me.\u201d \u2015\u2015 very hot walk, & unnumerable fireflies.<\/p>\n
