Church<\/a> is going to get married: \u2015 a comfort.<\/p>\n<p>O sad day! Yet how fine &amp; like summer!<\/p>\n<p>I could not work, but went at once to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nonsenselit.org\/diaries\/people\/lear-ann\/\">Ann<\/a>\u2019s \u2015<\/p>\n<p>She seems to sink: no nourishment stays. \u2015 Dear dear Ann! Always joyous at seeing me \u2015 \u201cmy precious!\u201d yet somehow clearer &amp; distincter in mental life. \u2015 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nonsenselit.org\/diaries\/people\/newsom-eleanor-nee-lear\/\">Ellen<\/a> \u2015 poor thing \u2015 seems sadly unable to bear up \u2015 &amp; \u02c7[this is] not to be wondered at.<\/p>\n<p>Then I went to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nonsenselit.org\/diaries\/people\/rose-dr\/\">Doctor<\/a>\u2019s, &amp; waited till he had been to see her &amp; had returned. \u201cWe are losing ground,\u201d he said: &amp; explained that the inside not acting, occasioned the rejection from the stomach \u2015 &amp; that continually weakened the poor dear, worn by pain \u2015 &amp; sleepless. \u2015 He agreed to call in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nonsenselit.org\/diaries\/people\/lawrence\/\">Lawrence<\/a>. \u2015 &amp; I left \u2015 &amp; home. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nonsenselit.org\/diaries\/people\/andre-family\/\">Mrs. Andr\u00e8<\/a> was at the door, but I could not speak.) \u2015 Wrote many letters. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nonsenselit.org\/diaries\/people\/rimbault-dr-edward-francis\/\">E. Rimbault<\/a> came. Walking to &amp; fro, at last, at 3.30 I set out again, &amp; walked to 20 Stonefeld St. Ellen was out. Dear Ann had been worse \u2015 more sick. I sate with her. Her clearness, &amp; boldness in dying \u2015 how glorious! She repeats \u2015 \u201cEye hath not seen \u2015[her]\u201d Sometimes she spoke suddenly \u2015\u201dwhat a blessing you are here! \u2015 not among the Arabs!\u201d \u2015 &amp; again \u2015 when I held the basin for her \u2015as soon as she could speak \u2015 \u201cO my love! How disagreeable for you! How sorry I am!\u201d \u2015\u2015 &amp; \u201cbless you my dear Edward! what a comfort you have been to all my \u02c7[your] life!! \u2015\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At 5 I came away: Ellen owned she could not sit up, so I went to the Doctors &amp; begged him to send a good nurse. \u2015 Then I walked home. \u2015\u2015<\/p>\n<p>Dined at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nonsenselit.org\/diaries\/people\/goldsmid-sir-francis-2nd-baronet\/\">Sir F.
