Miss Cushman.
Miss Hosmar.
Mrs. Willermins
S.W. Clowes.
These were my only visitors today.
I was not so unwell on waking, nor did I sleep very ill. Yet the feeling of continual oppression & decay is most sad. Worked, ― except the time the above people came ― at Lady W. Masada ― & not abominably. But towards afternoon ― cough came on. ― At 4½ I called on the Stansfelds ― & afterwards on the Woodwards, who are ever pleasant & calm & good.
But I could not stay there. ― the damp streets are drearily aggravating, I cannot think I can stay in Rome. ― Returned to dine, & wrote Gk. Excercises. ―
