Very wet night. Letters from Foord & Rimbault. The 2 frames ― Campagna & small Petra came down also. ― Van Crake & his 3 nice little children called. Van is a good kind fellow.

Later, G. Scrivens called, ― & saw the 4 pictures. Then we walked, but it rained, in showery storms: so we called on the W. Scrivens, & then tried various trains, but were beaten home at last. Dined with the G.S.’s at 5 & passed a pleasant evening. But it poured with rain, & I was half drowned by the time I got home ― at 10½.
