Less wicked. ― And it was also less cold.

Packed ― in 2 trunx ― & leaving much in a blk box.

Read over, & extracted some from Curzon. ― & arranged [πράγγιατα] for Mrs. Hunt. Played & sang for Mrs. H. Blackmore. Paid debts. ― Lunch. ― Left the ever kind Husey Hunts at 3½. Vehicle ― to the Hooke.  ― Day fine ― but colder again.

Walked with Miss Hepburn to see John’s house, which is beautiful as to site ― & as far as I can judge ― in other ways. [gr.] & damp. (27? children died of Diphtheria in the winter at Chailey?) ―

Called on F. Hepburn. ― Returned home at 6¼. Mrs. Blencowe. Letter from F. Lushington: & a book.

Dinner ― a Lady someone ― unintroduced. ― Mr. Traherne’s fête. ― Evening ― Messrs R. Blencowe, & Lee, ― & Mrs. Hepburn, & a cousin. ― The domestic has destroyed my peace of mind, by having “put out” all my things ― even the 14 pair of scissors secreted in a bag!! ―
