Slept ― gracious, how one sleeps here! ― Ever fine & clear, tho’ inside the houses seem cold to me. ― Greek lesson, 7 to 8. After breakfast accounts & G.’s lesson. ― Then packed, finally, Lady Waldegrave’s 2 pictures, Lady Reid’s 1 ― Lord Clermont’s 1, & 1 for S.W.C. ― with the 21 drawings, & sent them to Macbeans.
At 12 or 1 ― all the Chetwode party came, & looked at the Athos drawings: ―they are nice people, & of the few I shall regret here. ― After they went ― letters having come from my dear F.L. ― & from Foord ― I sat down to write, ― & wrote to F.L. & Foord ― as well as to Bonham Carter. Then I worked at Janina till 5½ ― & then walked solus to S.G. Lateran & back to dine at 7. ― Evening, wrote to Mrs. Empson.
The good time has not yet come.
