Rose at 5¾. Greek till 8.

Gage called & asked me to dine there today. I sent in the drawing of Athos to Mrs. Gage. And worked pretty hard all day at the Clermont Athos. Weather wet, dirty ― but not so cold. A letter from William Nevill, enclosing one from C.F. ― very nice & pleasant, & bringing me back to Woodberry.1 Did not go out till dressed, then to Gages. (It has rained all day ― & the cold is less.)

The Shakespeares, & Windham there. Very pleasant afternoon but ―
